WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE

Fairview Primary School is situated at the end of Hillmount Avenue , just off the Rashee Road in Ballyclare, County Antrim . We are celebrating our 30th 'birthday' this year having opened our doors for the first in September, 1980 with only six staff and approximately 100 pupils. This year we are pleased to have a total enrolment of over 500 pupils and 23 teaching staff. We hope that you take the time to explore our website and get a little insight into what goes on in our school. If you wish to find out more about our school, or perhaps even to visit us, then simply email us or telephone us on 028 93352094.

Our school now has 22 classrooms comprising of 3 classes in each year group and a Special Educational Needs teaching area. We are a very well resourced school due to the support from our Parent Teacher Association (P.T.A.) and the North Eastern Education and Library Board. We have an extremely supportive P.T.A. who organise and manage several fundraising events each year and raise money to help us buy new books, teaching materials and equipment for our children. Thanks to our PTA, every classroom in the school now has an Interactive Whiteboard which our pupils and staff are utilising to enhance all learning experiences fully.

We are all very proud of our school and our experienced staff are committed to delivering high quality education to all our children. The aim in this school is to provide our pupils with a curriculum which is broad and balanced and supports their physical, emotional, moral and social development. We believe our children are happy with their school environment. We aim to provide a secure and caring environment and encourage each individual child to strive to do their best, in their education, their sports, their music and all their other activities. Our main aim is to maximise each child's potential.

Fairview Primary School offers many extra-curricular activities during the course of the school year. We have several sporting clubs, all run by qualified teaching staff and supported by some external agencies. We offer football, rugby, cricket, badminton, hockey, netball, table-tennis and mini-tennis. We are very grateful to Ballyclare Youth Sport who provide qualified instructors to assist with the teaching of some of these sports. We also offer Art & Craft, Needlework, French Language, Speech & Drama and Lego Technic.

Music is given a high priority in our school. We have two choirs and and an orchestra who have won many prestigious competitions over the last few years. The senior choir, under the direction of Mr. Ford and Mrs. Penney, earned the title of "UTV School Choir of the Year" in 2003. This was a tremendous achievement by our pupils and music teachers and we are all still very proud of them. We have recently been shortlisted in the final 6 for the BBC School Choir of the Year 2010. We hope to know in the next few weeks if we will be chosen to compete in the final live competition to be held in London! Our orchestra is directed by Mrs. Susan Gillan. Over the last few years they have won many awards in the local Ballyclare Music Festival, Carrickfergus Music Festival and Larne Music Festival. We have three peripatetic music teachers who offer tuition on stringed, woodwind and brass instruments.
