PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

I am delighted to welcome you to our new look website.

I have been in post at Fairview Primary School for 27 years. Our aim is to provide a happy, caring and stimulating learning environment for all our pupils. At Fairview, individual differences of children are acknowledged. Teaching strategies and resources, both human and material, are employed to cater for such differentiation and pupils with special educational needs are catered for depending on the resources available.
Extra-curricular activities are offered to promote the interests of pupils and are run by my dedicated team of staff. Through a structured Home school Liasion policy, parents and teachers work together for the overall benefit of the children. Support to home school links is given by an active Parent Teacher Association. We encourage contact with relevant outside agencies in the community.
Through an established school discipline policy, good codes of conduct are promoted. Homework is set by teachers and plays a vital role in the reinforcement of the knowledge and skills taught.
Assessment of children's performance in the various subjects is carried out at regular intervals throughout the academic year.

My hope for all pupils is that they will leave this school with:

• A set of spiritual and moral values -- honesty, integrity and good judgement.

• A complement of basic skills -- linguistic, mathematical, scientific, artistic, physical and social.

• An enquiring and discriminating mind and a desire for knowledge.

• Strong self-esteem and high personal expectation.

• Tolerance and respect for others.

Mrs. C.A. Maxwell
