Kwik Cricket Competition

Last Wednesday saw the annual Templepatrick Cricket Club Kwik Cricket Competition take place. The growth of cricket in Fairview has been phenomenal, with 40 boys and girls from our school alone taking part. As well as our 5 teams, 7 other teams took part, making the competition one of the biggest in recent years.

The competition was split into 3 groups. Our A team topped their group and progressed to the semi finals. Our B team and E team both narrowly missed out on a best runners up spot – a tremendous achievement.

The A team beat an excellent Loanends team in the semi final and, after a scare, comfortably beat Glengormley Integrated in the final. The final was a great game, played in super spirit. Glengormley limited our batting pairs to their lowest score of the day and after two overs from our bowlers, Glengormley were well ahead. Step up Sophie Montgomery, who secured two wickets with the ball and then an amazing diving catch gave her 3 wickets in one over. This turned the match and our remaining bowlers proved almost unhittable. Our squad, led by Austin Adair, progress to the NI Finals Day at Stormont where they must have a good chance of success. We will keep you posted.
